Phillip Martinez received his master's degree from Cornerstone University in Clinical Pastoral Counseling, specializing in Substance Abuse and Addiction Therapy. Phil serves as the Prayer Team Coordinator and the Ministry Leader for Celebrate Recovery at Mercy Hill. He received his bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Midwest Bible College. He also received his Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE4) from The College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, serving as a Hospital Chaplain for four years and Prison Chaplain for 16 years before coming to Mercy Hill Church.

Phil and his wife Idalia were married in 1987 and have four children: Breeanna (1987), Giovanny (1991), Gabriela (1991) and Alexander (1993).
